John John Florences Long Road To A Third World Title

John John Florence's Long Road To A Third World Title

A Rocky Start

John John Florence's quest for a third world title got off to a rocky start. He finished 13th in the season-opening event on the Gold Coast and then withdrew from the next two events due to injury. However, he bounced back with a vengeance, winning the Margaret River Pro and the Oi Rio Pro to put himself back in contention for the world title.

A Dominant Summer

Florence continued his dominant form throughout the summer, winning the Fiji Pro and the Tahiti Pro to take the lead in the world title race. He also finished second in the J-Bay Open and the Corona Open J-Bay to further cement his status as the man to beat.

A Close Finish

The world title race came down to the final event of the season, the Billabong Pipe Masters. Florence needed to finish in the top two to win the title, but he was eliminated in the semi-finals by eventual winner Gabriel Medina. However, Florence's second-place finish was enough to secure him the world title, his third in four years.

A Legacy Of Success

Florence's third world title cements his legacy as one of the greatest surfers of all time. He is only the third surfer to win three world titles before the age of 25, joining Kelly Slater and Tom Curren. Florence's success is a testament to his hard work, dedication, and talent. He is a role model for young surfers around the world and an inspiration to us all.
